About Public Health Course

The degree course of specialty Public Health is provided at the first (Bachelor of Science in Public Health) and Second (Master of Science in Public Health) levels of higher education. The aim of the Public Health Degree at the International European University, Ukraine – Malta Campus is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in public health. The program covers different topics related to Public Health, including epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, environmental health, etc. International students are provided with opportunities to participate in fieldwork and research projects to gain practical experience in Public Health. The Public Health course is intended to prompt students to learn how to define public health issues and problems and how to improve one’s own life and also contribute to public well-being.

Public health professionals play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of individuals, communities, and populations. As Public Health focuses on promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing disease, it involves working with groups of people to achieve these goals. The Educational Process

The Public Health degree program at the International European University, Ukraine – Malta Campus is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities. The course is structured around public health and healthcare delivery and encompasses fundamental concepts of public health such as the historical and contemporary significance of public health, the crucial role of health equity and human rights, and the identification of systemic racism in public health and healthcare systems, and other related topics. By bringing together all students in the Public Health Program, the course creates a shared community and fosters a public health-oriented perspective within each cohort or group.

By using literature and the arts, the social sciences, the International European University, Ukraine – Malta Campus prompts students to see how ever-present the realities of public health are in our world. Public Health Education in Europe includes the five long-recognized core components of public health – epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health services administration, and social and behavioral sciences. In addition to coursework, the program includes the development of a research project or final thesis to apply students’ knowledge and skills to real-world health issues. Students work closely with faculty advisors and local organizations or international organizations to gain practical experience in the Public Health field and to develop a research question, conduct a literature review, collect and analyze data, and prepare a written report concerning their final thesis.

Students taking courses in basic public health sciences, essential managerial and analytical skills including project planning and evaluation, epidemiological investigations, health system analysis and research, reproductive and child health, environmental and occupational health, disease control, and effective communication and leadership. Public Health courses provide students with the necessary groundwork to function efficiently as professional public health practitioners in interdisciplinary teams.
